The Comeback Kids. These ain't your Grandpa's Blue Jays!

Maybe it's the water in Buffalo. Maybe it's the empty stands in the Jays new home away from home for this COVID abbreviated season at Sahlen Field. Maybe, just maybe it's the Jay's "new blue" uniforms. Whatever it is, the kids are alright. After a turbulent start to the year, mixing some great highs with some disappointing lows, these 2020 Toronto/Buffalo Blue Jays seemed to have found something. Charlie Montoyo with a full season plus under his belt as skipper seems to have developed an undeniable rapport with this young squad who's identity seems to be NEVER SAY DIE. With the roller coaster of emotions 20+ games into this strange, yet uplifting season the Jays have bought in, and although sometimes difficult, it is so much fun to watch.

Whether it comes on the heels of a comeback fallen short at the hands of the Miami Marlins a little over a week ago, or coming out on the right side of a SEVEN run comeback against the Philadelphia Phillies in the team's back half of their inaugural SEVEN inning double header, the message remains the same NO QUIT, NO MATTER WHAT. "That was pretty awesome." remarked Montoyo following the exhilarating comeback led by a moonshot from Rowdy Tellez, and completed by his two out single in the bottom of the 6th to give the Jays a 9-7 lead before wrapping it up with a final of 9-8.

At the time of writing the Jays found a way to extend their winning streak to five games. A feat tough to accomplish without the help of young superstar Bo Bichette due to a knee injury. With a little more solid play over the next week and a half before the MLB Trade Deadline, these young Jays could force the hand of management to make some decisions to help remain competitive this season and begin to open the window on the outlook of hopefully a full 162 game slate in 2021 and beyond. For now however, we will just sit back and enjoy the success from this scrappy young bunch and continue to replay Rowdy's 117.4 MPH moonshot until Bo comes back from the IL.
